About me

Basti aka
Ethernalink.

I'm Basti, full name Bastian Winkendick, and I tattoo under the name Ethernalink at a tattoo studio in Karlsruhe, Germany. I draw and tattoo pieces that exist exactly once: blackwork, ornamental, ignorant style, lettering and everything in between.

Every piece is made with care: sterile, clean work, a relaxed atmosphere and honest advice on design, size and placement. We'll arrange all the details of your appointment personally once you've sent your request.

My philosophy

One of
a kind.

Your tattoo. Your story. Your original.

At Ethernalink, every tattoo is a unique work of art.

Whether you choose one of my wannado designs or we develop a custom design together, every design is tattooed only once.

Once you've chosen a design and it has been tattooed, it will never be given to anyone else or tattooed again.

Your tattoo belongs to you and your story. It's a one-off work of art that exists in exactly this form only once in the world.

No copies. No repeats. Just true individuality.

Wannado designs

Every wannado is one of a kind and is tattooed only once. Once a design has been claimed and tattooed, it's no longer available.

Custom designs

Your custom tattoo design is also created exclusively for you and tattooed only once. Together we'll develop a design that suits you and that nobody else will wear in identical form.

Client voices

Your words.
My art.

Real tattoos. Real experiences. Real people.

Every tattoo tells its own story. That's why it means so much to me when my clients share their experiences with me. Here you'll find honest feedback from people who brought their tattoo ideas to life at Ethernalink.

Frequently asked questions

Good to know.

Appointment & booking

How do I book a tattoo appointment?

The easiest way is the booking request here on the website: choose your preferred date and time, describe your idea and send the request directly. It reaches me as an email without opening an email app. You can also message me directly via Instagram DM at @ethernalink or email me at ethernalinkinfo@gmail.com. I'll get back to you personally.

Can I choose my preferred date and time?

Yes. In the booking request you pick a date in the calendar and a time in 30-minute steps. This is your preferred appointment, not a fixed reservation yet: I'll check whether it works and suggest an alternative if it doesn't.

When is my appointment confirmed?

Your appointment is only fully reserved once I've confirmed it and the agreed deposit has been received. Until then, your request is non-binding.

Can I reschedule or cancel an appointment?

Yes. Please let me know as early as possible, via Instagram DM or email. The sooner I know, the easier it is to find a new date. What happens to the deposit in your case is something we'll discuss personally.

What happens if I get sick?

If you're ill, for example with a fever, a cold or an infection, you shouldn't get tattooed: your body needs its energy to recover, and the healing of the tattoo can suffer too. Please let me know as early as possible and we'll find a new date together.

Where in Karlsruhe do you tattoo?

I work as a resident artist at a tattoo studio in Karlsruhe, Germany. You'll get the exact address and directions with your appointment confirmation. From Ettlingen, Bruchsal, Bretten, Rastatt and Pforzheim it's a quick trip by car or train.

Can I come by without an appointment?

I tattoo by appointment only, because every design is drawn individually for you beforehand. Send me your idea via the booking request or an Instagram DM and we'll find a suitable date.

Price & deposit

How do I find out what my tattoo will cost?

The price of your tattoo depends on the design, size, placement and amount of work involved. After your request you'll receive an individual price estimate. Ideally, send me your idea, the body part and the approximate size, with reference pictures if you have them.

How much is the deposit?

To secure your tattoo appointment, a deposit of €50–100 is required. You'll be told the exact amount before your appointment is confirmed. The deposit is deducted from the total price of your tattoo.

Is the deposit deducted from the price of the tattoo?

Yes. The deposit is deducted from the total price of your tattoo. Your appointment is only fully reserved once I've confirmed it and the agreed deposit has been received.

Design & style

Can I bring my own design or idea?

Yes, of course. Your idea and your reference pictures help me understand what you like. From that, I'll develop a design that suits you and your body part: your story, my signature.

Are individual custom designs possible?

Yes, that's my focus. From your idea, your references and the body part, I create a design that exists only once, whether fine line or bold black. Find out more on the tattoo styles page.

Can I book an existing wannado design?

Yes. Wannados are finished designs I'd love to tattoo. If you like one, send me a screenshot via Instagram DM, or choose “Wannado design” in the booking request and describe which one you mean. I'll tell you whether it's still available and how it will look best on your body part.

Will my tattoo design be tattooed on other clients too?

No. Every tattoo at Ethernalink is a one-off work of art. Both my wannado designs and the designs developed individually with you are tattooed only once. Your design won't be given to anyone else in identical form or tattooed again.

Are your wannado designs exclusive?

Yes! Each of my wannado designs is tattooed only once. Once it has been tattooed, it won't be given out again.

Which tattoo styles do you do?

Blackwork, ornamental, ignorant style and lettering, plus individual custom tattoos, whether fine line or bold black. Find out more on the tattoo styles page.

I'm from Bretten, Bruchsal or Pforzheim. Is it worth the trip to Karlsruhe?

Karlsruhe is easy to reach from Bretten, Bruchsal and Pforzheim by car and by train. Send me your idea in advance and we'll plan the appointment so the trip is worth it for you.

Preparation

What should I keep in mind before my tattoo appointment?

Come well rested and healthy. Avoid alcohol and drugs the day before and on the day itself, as they can increase bleeding. The skin on the body part should be free of sunburn, wounds and irritation. If you take medication, especially blood thinners, or have any health questions, talk to me beforehand and, if in doubt, check with your doctor.

Should I eat and drink before the appointment?

Yes, definitely. Have a proper meal beforehand and drink enough water. Stable circulation helps you get through the session well. For longer appointments, a snack and something to drink in between are a good idea.

What should I bring to the appointment?

  • your ID card or passport
  • snacks and something to drink
  • comfortable clothing that leaves the body part easily accessible and doesn't rub on freshly tattooed skin
  • for longer sessions, headphones or something to pass the time

Aftercare & healing

How do I look after my new tattoo?

The key basics: only touch the fresh tattoo with clean hands, wash it gently with lukewarm water and mild, fragrance-free soap, pat it dry and apply a thin layer of suitable tattoo aftercare. Don't scratch, don't pick off scabs and avoid tight, rubbing clothes. Stay out of direct sun while it heals. We're happy to go through aftercare for your tattoo at the appointment.

How long does healing take?

It's individual and depends on size, body part, technique and your skin. On the surface, a tattoo usually heals in about two to four weeks; the deeper layers of skin often need several more weeks. Light flaking and itching are normal during this time. If the area becomes very red, hot, swollen or weeps, please have it checked by a doctor.

When can I do sport again?

Give your tattoo a few days' rest. Avoid intense exercise, heavy sweating and friction on the area during the first days, especially if it's strained during training. Avoid swimming pools, the sea, saunas and sunbeds until the tattoo has healed on the surface. Exactly how long depends on size and body part – feel free to ask me at the appointment.
